A Love Story

Valentine’s Day is a time to show love and appreciation, and what better way to do that than with a thoughtful gift that considers your loved one’s health and well-being? Sugarless chocolate candies are an excellent choice for Valentine’s Day 2025, and here are several reasons why they make a perfect gift.

First and foremost, sugarless chocolates are a healthier alternative to traditional chocolates. They are made with sugar substitutes that do not spike blood sugar levels, making them suitable for people with diabetes or those who are watching their sugar intake. By choosing sugarless chocolates, you show that you care about your loved one’s health and want them to enjoy a sweet treat without any guilt.

Moreover, sugarless chocolates can help in maintaining dental health. Traditional chocolates can contribute to tooth decay and cavities due to their high sugar content. On the other hand, sugarless chocolates are less likely to cause dental problems, making them a more tooth-friendly option. This consideration can be especially important for children and older adults who may be more prone to dental issues.

Benefits of Going Sugarless

In addition to health benefits, sugarless chocolates come in a variety of flavors and types, ensuring that there is something for everyone. From dark chocolate to milk chocolate, and even exotic flavors like mint or orange, sugarless chocolates offer a wide range of options that can cater to different tastes and preferences. This variety allows you to personalize your gift and make it even more special.

Furthermore, giving sugarless chocolates can be a way to support sustainable and ethical practices. Many sugarless chocolate brands prioritize using high-quality, ethically sourced ingredients and environmentally friendly packaging. By choosing these brands, you contribute to a more sustainable and ethical chocolate industry.

In conclusion, sugarless chocolate candies are a thoughtful and health-conscious gift for Valentine’s Day 2025. They offer numerous health benefits, cater to different tastes, and support sustainable practices. Show your loved ones that you care by giving them a sweet treat that they can enjoy without any guilt.

Sugarless Gum – Chewing Gum Evolution Plus Alternatives

Sugarless Gum – Chewing Gum Evolution Plus Alternatives

Let’s take a journey down memory lane to learn about the evolution of chewing gum products from the original concept to sweetened bubble gum to sugarless and gum alternatives for the health-conscious chewers.

The Story of Sugarless Gum From Ancient Beginnings to Modern Innovation

Do you remember the days when sugarless gum was a novelty? A time when popping a piece of gum into your mouth was met with a mix of excitement and trepidation? As we navigate the aisles of today’s convenience stores, sugarless options line the shelves alongside their sugared counterparts.

Did You Know That All Chewing Gum Used To Be Sugarless?

In fact, chewing gum has a rich history that predates the introduction of sugar by centuries. Let’s embark on a journey through time to explore the evolution of gum from its original, sugarless form to the sweet sensations we know today and the surprising comeback of sugarless gum as a health-conscious choice.

The Ancient Origins of Sugarless Gum

The earliest evidence of chewing gum dates back to the Neolithic period, approximately 5,000 years ago. Ancient civilizations, including the Mayans and Aztecs, chewed on the sap of the sapodilla tree, known as chicle. This natural substance provided a refreshing, albeit not always sweet, alternative to the sugary treats we’re familiar with today. The Mayans revered chicle as a breath freshener and a means to clean their teeth, while the Aztecs used it as a base for creating a gum-like substance mixed with flavorful resins. It was a far cry from the sticky, sugary delight we chew today, but it served a purpose and sparked a global craze that would evolve over time.

The Introduction of Sugared Gum

unsweetened gumsFast forward to the mid-19th century, and we find John Curtis, an American inventor, commercializing the first form of modern chewing gum. His product, “State of Maine Pure Spruce Gum,” was made from the sap of the spruce tree and was, you guessed it, sugarless. However, the real revolution came in the late 1800s when Thomas Adams discovered that mixing chicle with sugar made for a more palatable and enjoyable chewing experience. This revelation led to the creation of the first chewing gum with added sugar, and the industry took off like wildfire. By the early 20th century, sugar-filled gum was a staple in candy stores and households alike.

The Resurgence of Sugarless Gum

It wasn’t until the late 1950s that sugarless gum made a comeback, and it did so with a bang. The introduction of xylitol and other sugar substitutes paved the way for a new era of gum that offered the same great taste without the cavity-causing side effects of sugar. This was a game-changer for dental health enthusiasts and those looking to cut down on their sugar intake. Sugarless gum grew in popularity as a result of its health benefits, which included reducing plaque and fighting tooth decay.

But why did sugarless gum become a feature again? The answer lies in the ever-changing landscape of health and wellness trends. As we became more aware of the negative impacts of sugar on our bodies, the demand for sugar-free alternatives grew. The chewing gum industry responded by investing in research and development, creating new formulations that not only eliminated sugar but also provided additional benefits like fresh breath and oral care.

The Modern Sugarless Gum Revolution

Today, sugarless gum is a mainstay in the market, with brands like Orbit, Trident, and Extra offering a plethora of flavors and benefits. It’s not just about cutting out sugar anymore; it’s about enjoying a guilt-free snack that can also contribute to weight loss plans and your overall well-being.

Sugarless gum has come a long way from its original, natural form, incorporating non caloric (zero calorie) sweeteners, ingredients like xylitol, stevia, and aspartame to satisfy our sweet cravings without the damage sugar causes. These innovations have led to a wide array of options that cater to different tastes and dietary needs, including sugar-free, low-calorie, and even organic gum.

From ancient civilizations to modern candy aisles, chewing gum has undergone a remarkable transformation. What was once a sugarless staple became a sugary treat and has now circled back to its roots as a sugarless solution for the health-conscious chewer. It’s a testament to human ingenuity and our never-ending quest for something new and exciting, yet familiar.

The Chewing Gum In Stores Today

The story of chewing gum is a delicious tale of innovation, adaptation, and a full-circle return to its sugarless beginnings. Whether you’re a fan of the original chicle or prefer the modern sugarless varieties, there’s no denying the impact this simple yet versatile product has had on our culture and diet. So next time you pop a piece of gum, remember the journey it’s been on and the ancient origins that paved the way for the sugarless sensations we enjoy today.

There Are Still Brands Of Chewing Gum With Sugar

There are still chewing gums that have sugar, sucrose, or corn syrup. These should be avoided if you want to go sugarless. Even though it’s not much sugar, it can still cause a sugar addiction relapse.

Here’s a current list of non-sugar-free chewing gum brands available in the USA, along with their sweetening ingredients.

  • Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit: Sweetened with sugar, corn syrup, and dextrose.
  • Wrigley’s Doublemint: Contains sugar, gum base, dextrose, corn syrup, and other sweetening agents.
  • Bubble Yum: This gum is sweetened with sugar, corn syrup, and high fructose corn syrup.
  • Dubble Bubble: Includes sugar, dextrose, corn syrup, among its sweeteners.
  • Bazooka: Made with sugar, gum base, glucose syrup, and less than 2% of natural & artificial flavor.
  • Hubba Bubba: Contains sugar, gum base, corn syrup, and less than 2% of glycerol and natural and artificial flavors.
  • Bubblicious: Sweetened with sugar, gum base, corn syrup, and less than 2% of artificial and natural flavoring.

Please note that the formulations can change, so it’s always best to check the packaging for the most current ingredient information.

So that’s sugarless gum and chewing gum evolution plus gum alternatives for the health conscious.

Benefits of Going Sugarless

The Benefit of Going Sugarless

Here are the benefits of reducing sugar intake with examples for each one listed. When you are going sugarless, you avoid or mitigate various health problems.

Weight Management: Avoiding high-sugar snacks like cookies and choosing much healthier options such as nuts or dried fruits can help control calorie intake and support weight loss efforts [1]. It helps to balance calories with fiber.

Improved Heart Health: By choosing unsweetened beverages over sugary sodas, you can reduce the risk of heart disease associated with high sugar consumption [1].  Many beverages have too much caffeine too, a good thing to avoid.

Blood Sugar Regulation: Replacing sugary breakfast cereals with whole-grain alternatives can help maintain stable blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of diabetes [2].  Also, you avoid a mid-day sugar crash.

Dental Health: Swapping out candy and other sweets for crunchy vegetables can lead to fewer cavities and better overall dental health [1]. Raw foods are less acidic than processed food, and low acidity protects teeth.

Reduced Inflammation: Cutting down on processed foods with hidden sugars and eating more whole foods can decrease inflammation-related conditions like arthritis [4].

Better Mood and Energy Levels: Instead of reaching for a sugary energy drink, drinking water or herbal tea can help avoid the energy crashes and mood swings associated with sugar highs and lows [3].

These examples illustrate how making small changes in your diet by reducing added sugars can contribute to significant health improvements. Remember, it’s always best to consult with a healthcare professional before making any major dietary changes.

Eating Halloween candy is not just about sugary sweets. It should be a part of the fun of Halloween. While there are lots of seasonal or holiday chocolates shaped for Christmas, Easter, and Valentines Day. The major candy companies even jump in with their short-run variations. But for Halloween, however, they fall short. None of the low calorie and sugarless brands have festive options, except one I know of.

M&Ms is an enthusiastic holiday design, but all they can do is change the color to tie in. Snicker’s and Reece’s have seasonal variations, but these are not very fun-looking. I will compare Choc Zero sugarless treats to Reece’s shapes. Ghost, bat, and pumpkin shapes are quite non-descript. The ghost looks a lot like their Christmas seasonal snow man.

Halloween is one of the top excess sugar consumption events. So if it keeps you from being entirely on your diet, here is a way to mitigate the damage. Swap out sugary candy with sugarless chocolate. It helps and it’s a more fun experience. ChocZero has the best looking Halloween candy in the sugarless industry.

The Unboxing

I ordered all the Halloween 2022 items they have at Choc Zero through their online store. It arrived in 3 days for this unboxing video. They all have very detailed scary fun themes. The sugar candies look like nondescript blobs, and thus are much less fun.

What’s Inside Of My Box

Sugarless Nut Butter, which I’ll review later. Zesty Orange Squares, which will also be reviewed later when I find something to compare to it. Inside, a decorated paper carton is filled with a mix of 2 items.

The best Halloween shapes in sugarless chocolateDark Chocolate Pumpkins are bite sized chunks of dark chocolate in a variety of face designs. I counted finely shaped chocolates. Caramel Dark Chocolate Square bars are included for an extra dash of color and flavor. The sweetest item in this unboxing video. This shipment has large bags suitable for giving Trick or Treaters.

Reece’s is one brand that does seasonally shaped versions of the peanut butter cup. Unfortunately, they don’t look so appealing. Plus I want a sugarless Halloween candy to give out. Choc Zero has me covered with low calorie candy with a detailed set of shapes that make for a fun and sweet snacking experience.

Peanut Butter Cup Ghosts are modified peanut butter cups with ethereally creamy peanut frosting in a soft, smooth milk chocolate shell. They come in 3 detailed ghost designs. For spooky sweet fun.

Adoptable Monster is a large, thick, chocolate bar in the shape of a loveable ogre in milk chocolate. It has a lot of personality.

What Going Sugarless Is For You

What Going Sugarless Is For You

This is what I mean by going sugarless. There are levels of sugarless.  What is needed by others may not be what is right for you. There are varying degrees of intake, time, or expectations to consider.

Levels of Sugarless

Don’t be afraid to take on controlling and eliminating your sugar intake. There are lots of reasons why someone would want to reduce calories. Not all of them involve a major lifestyle alteration or permanent diet of 0% sugar. Let me break this down to show you what I mean.

0 Sugar per day, done for medical reasons or serious weight loss.

6 tsp of sugar per day, basically this is calories from plant structure instead of any added sweetening or juices.

5 tsp per day is the amount the KETO diet allows. Count 16 calories per tsp of sugar.

The WHO (World Health Organization) recommends 3 tsp for children, 6 tsp for women, and 9 tsp of sugar for a man in a day. For some people, cutting down to a reasonable standard would be sufficient.

1/2 original sugar intake per day, also known as cutting back carbs.

25-65 tsp of added sugar per day is the consumption of a typical American on a budget.

Selective Sugars

No Fructose DietThere’s another facet to this. Health benefits can come from just eliminating one or two types of sweetening. For instance, you can just cut all high fructose corn syrup beverages for many health benefits. You could choose to eliminate all but pure uncondensed cane sugar, or just sweeten with juices. It’s also enough sometimes, based on your prognosis, just to stop consuming synthetic sweeteners.
Another example is elimination of fructose. This sugar goes straight to the liver, where visceral fatty stockpiles are made. This can be eliminated by removal alone. but usually gets removed by replacement with glucose or low calorie alcohol sugars.

Going Sugarless Duration

The next main variable is duration. You can do a strict calorie regimen for your Atkins or KETO diet, and then taper down upon reaching your goal figure. You may be going sugarless to starve out a tumor or a candida infection. Once the treatment is successful, you then reconsider you day to day diet going forward. As long as you don’t go on a binge and turn the sugar trap back on, you’ll be fine if you reapply these simple principles.

Zero sugar is employed because it starves parasites like fungi, your blood will flow better, and make your bodily fluids stay out of the acidic range. That is just about creating a hostile environment for bad gut bacteria, viruses and reduces carbon pollution of the body. Don’t add a lot of salad dressing, sauce, salsa and creams to your entree’s.

Countermeasures

First, you use self-flavored water in reusable glass. No more aluminum cans and 2-litre bottles. This is meant to eliminate the drinking all of your daily allotment of sugar. You can save a lot of money following this advice!
Substitute with milk, coffee or tea for that big glass of juice with breakfast. Eat a balance of fiber to protein. Eat smaller and darker fruits to increase phytonutrients while reducing fructose. The best alternative sweeteners are monk fruit extract, erythritol sweetener and dextrose. Slow metabolizing sweeteners and carbs are your best options.
Eat slower. Give your body some time to trigger the neurotransmitters that indicate a full stomach. This also maximizes the action of the enzymes in your mouth.

Compared Sugarless Grape Energy Drink Mixes With No Aspartame

I Compared Sugarless Grape Flavored Energy Drink Single Serve Mixes With No Aspartame

I had a question about what my favorite energy drinks were that were sugarless, but also did not have aspartame. I like to see aspartame coming out of products. It is a big development that a lot of brands are doing apparently. In this post I compare grape flavor single serve mix packets.
So I’m making this video to show you some of my favorite energy drinks that don’t have aspartame, but first we’re going to set up the standard.

Procedure

For every one of these tests, I’m going to rinse up the bottle first. This rinse will also warm it up. I’ll have these beverage mixes warm. The winter coming here. It’s always nice to have a flavorful warm beverage in your hand. Use these single serve energy drinks for a great pick me up in the morning.
Each one will be tasted to test the flavor, color, mixing speed, contents and if it is free of aspartame.

I’m comparing not just as energy drinks but as grape flavored drinks, too. Then what I’m going to do is put in a little bit of water to start. Then pour the flavor packet into the bottle. Swirl and pre-mix. Then finish filling the bottle with high pressure hot tap water.

The Comparison Tests

Crush

First off, I test Grape Crush. Crush is always very flavorful and very sweet, so it’s going to be a tough standard to match up to. Especially for the sugar-free drink in grape flavor.
I got a lot of fruit flavor out and it’s sweet and syrup laden like the soda. A good simulation of stuff in the cans, but with no corn syrup. The mix uses maltitol. The color’s very thick.
That first sip is aromatic you can taste the flavor before the water even hits your mouth.
So that’s our standard for flavor in a sugar-free beverage now for one of what I consider one of the best tasting powdered energy drinks this is Next up is the Walmart brand, Great Value. This is their grape flavored energy drink.

Great Value Energy Drink

See the flavor effervescing from the bottle although not so much. That’s a good flavor it sort of reminds me of Kool-Aid grape flavor or like a grape jelly. It is not over-sweet but is very fruity. With the caffeine it’s got B vitamins and lots of other energy ingredients in another caffeine, so this is one of my favorite energy drinks in the market. Enjoy a pretty good flavor but you can still taste the caffeine a little bit.
So, while I like the flavor and I like the energy, I’ve been trying to find an aspartame free alternative to it.

This is my standard for an energy drink with grape flavor.

Because aspartame is the first ingredient listed, I got aspartame symptoms. What I mean by that is the sort of a flemminess of stickiness in the back of my throat causing difficulty in swallowing. A sort of the pasty oily buildup that happens. It’s kind of unpleasant. While it doesn’t detract from the energy aspect, it does detract from the experience of drinking it.

Crystal Light

So now I’m going to try one that’s available in a lot of grocery stores. This one was found at Walmart is crystal light this is basically their crystal light product with caffeine added to it.

I like this one because citric acid is listed first and then maltodextrin and then aspartame. I was able to drink one without aftertaste or throat irritation.
This one is very sweet. It tastes almost like regular refined sugar a little bit of the fruity taste too. The color is a little blue in the suds, but it’s purple when it mixes.
Like the first drink it’s a see-through kind of coloring. It’s not so thick as you get with some of these others. The taste is actually close to the taste of actual fresh fruit. it’s almost like taking a bite out of a grape. It’s a very satisfying grape flavor.

Good & Smart

Next it gets more interesting. It is from Good & Smart, a Dollar General store brand. Now this is going to be the first drink that criteria and fits my actual priority. Although the flavor is not necessarily grape, it’s some kind of acai blend berry flavor mix. This is the closest thing they had to grape, but this is the first aspartame free product that I have to show you. It’s actually sweetened with sucralose and acesulfame potassium and has natural flavors. This one also has a lot of the B vitamins, ginseng, and other energy components not just caffeine powered.

Mio

Now this says it has 18 servings that’s like one full squeeze from the
container. But it makes me wonder whether that amount changes depending on how high the level is in the bottle. After 8 servings it takes more than one squirt to be equivalent.
This mixes really fast. I don’t see any changes in continuity in the color. It looks like everything’s the same shade of purple and again it’s another sort of subtle color. You can really see straight through this one as well. The color is a little off, but it could be right depending on what the grape flavor is like. With this one I can taste the fruitiness of it. It’s sweet, but not only sweet. Because it’s got a little bit of the chemical taste in it from the ingredients. It’s subtle but it’s not necessarily a strong flavor either somewhere in the middle. I can compare it as kind of like the jelly packets in a restaurant.
This gave me a good lift with all these extra ingredients in it and it has no aspartame. So I don’t have to worry about aspartame symptoms which is nice. I’m just not sure whether this flavor holds up compared to the other flavors. It can’t match flavor with Crush for sweetness or flavor. A very slight light purple color appeared washing out the Mio.

True Lemon

The next one for aspartame free energy drink mixes. This is the energy drink I found a Dollar General. It’s actually a lemonade. So they don’t
really have a grape flavor, but it has no aspartame, so I include it here.
Ugh, it tastes like chemicals. A distinct chalky chemical kind of taste to it and a little bit of fruity taste. The sweetness I guess is there but it’s an aftertaste. Well, the color is kind of grapey. It is sweetened with stevia, empowered with caffeine only.
It almost tastes like medicine but what I’m also detecting is the lemon taste sort of an aftertaste more than a foretaste no it’s still a little bit of chalkiness in the back of my mouth, but it does taste like lemonade with some strawberry or some fruit in it. More like a tea actually. Beside the taste of the stevia is there. Maybe it’s the lemon in here it almost tastes like lemon peel, very zesty. I can say that for it, but I’m not sure I like this as a drink.

Good & Smart brand acai-blueberry

This is another one that’s in the natural products aisle in Dollar General. It’s Good & Smart brand acai-blueberry. They don’t really have a grape, this is pretty close, I guess.
See how this works for an aspartame free energy drink single serve mix. Because it’s got to be a step up from that last one.
Blueberry is not a bad substitute for grape juice kind of similar in a way the dye looks like it’s going to be thick. A little bit of blue color separating from the purple color in the foam. That seems to be a common occurrence with maltitol sweetening. The color is very dark. You can almost not see through it. It tastes like a blueberry jelly.
This one is a winner!

Welch’s Aspartame free orange drink

It’s not terribly sweet but it is fruity, not really overdone at all.
As for an energy drink I think this is really good for a gentle lift. This one is sweetened with citric acid, maltodextrin, and is caffeine powered looks like it’s got not much more than that some B vitamins.
Now we’re going to have a standard for flavor I’m setting the standard using using Welch’s and Welch’s is actually where I got the idea that this needed to be celebrated with a video because they put it in big bold letters it was smaller letters on earlier packaging and now its big bold letters saying “no aspartame”
So apparently, there’s a trend there that people know they don’t want this stuff in their diet anymore. If you combine that with Welch’s superior grape taste, we have a pretty good combination here.
Now mind you, this is not an energy drink, we’re just putting this in to compare flavor. It’s very fruity and naturally sweet tasting. The color is a little on the reddish side, not so much purple. Maybe it’s more like a red grape taste. The coloring is thick, but it spreads evenly.
This one has a very realistic flavor. Not so much sweet like a jelly but more like just actually eating actual grapes. A fresh grape flavor that is very satisfying. None of the energy drinks can match this for flavor. Just throw some caffeine with this you might have a really good product but I’m surprised I expected Welch’s to really set the standard here for this and they did not disappoint. So, with that we’ve got a pretty complete test here.
so that concludes the comparison here.

Here are our drinks again

Great Value is the only one that had aspartame in it. It was also similar to the version of the grape energy drink that they sell at the Meijer store. So I just used this one to represent both. True Lemon is some kind of weird lemon tea with flavor. It did not work out so well. The Welch’s is the flavor standard with no aspartame. The Crystal Light with no aspartame and the acai which are both good for flavor but it’s not the grape flavor and grape Crystal Light was a satisfying energy drink but striking the balance between the energy components and the sweetener is a difficult thing. I don’t think Mio did that very well with a single serving so if you’re maintaining the best flavor with energy.
Now I like the Crystal Light grape a lot Yeah was a good flavor just wasn’t

This Is About How To Read The Nutrition Facts Panel On Foods

A key part to any diet is understanding what is inside the foods and beverages we consume. On a daily basis, we either edify or toxify our organs and bodily fluids. You can know which is which after you learn how to read and understand the information on the Nutrition Facts Panel. It’s located on the side of every FDA approved food product sold in stores.

What’s In It For You

Contents of all food products in the USA must be printed on the consumer packaging in the Nutrition Facts label. Seeing this label lets you know that this is a product approved for human consumption by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration.) Fortified foods will have added nutrients in them. For example, milk is often fortified with vitamin D, in order to help the absorption of calcium from the milk Therefore, vitamin D will appear in the ingredients.

There are 3 main sections of a FDA Nutrition Facts panel. The non-nutrient content, nutritional information and the ingredients. Let’s familiarize you with these features that are so important to your diet.

Understanding The Nutritional Content With The Nutrition Facts Panel

Here are the sections of the Nutrition Facts Panel explained. This is the way the panel is formatted. It starts at the top with the serving size that was tested to obtain all the other data. Then it goes on to list fat, carbohydrate and fiber content in grams and percentages. Each in an ingredients label section. Finally, you will learn about the common ingredients that a food product has.

Non Nutritional Information

How to read the Nutrition Facts Panel on food labels

Serving size. This section of a nutrition label helps you determine the number of calories and amount of each nutrient in a recommended serving of a food. This is expressed in volume. Based on this quantity the contents are measured compared to the suggested daily intake for a percentage. When not applicable, it gives a weight in grams per serving. The FDA selected serving sizes are often smaller than you might eat. So read labels carefully. Know what is considered one serving.

Calories. This tells you how many calories are in one serving. Keep in mind that some packages can contain more than one serving. Like the ice cream pint that claims to have 4 servings when we know it’s more like 1 or 2. This is done to create the illusion of lower calories in the product.

Total fat. This number on a food label indicates how much fat is in a single serving of a food. This can be broken down into these subheadings, Saturated Fats, Trans Fat polyunsaturated Fat, and Monounsaturated Fat. All fats have 9 calories per gram.

(CLICK THIS -If you want me to explain the difference between the types of fat.)

Cholesterol. Vital for building hormones and cell membranes. Your body makes most of the cholesterol it needs. Cholesterol is listed under the fat information on a nutrition label.

Sodium. This is your salt content. Vital for healthy nerves and muscles, most of us get too much salt in our diet from over-processed products. A person can’t handle over 2,300 milligrams a day of salt without it interfering with chemical reactions required by the body. People who have hypertension, diabetes or chronic kidney disease should limit sodium to under 1500 milligrams daily.

Total carbohydrate. This number on a food label indicates how many grams of carbohydrates are in a single serving of a food.
Carbohydrate. A sugar or starch that exist in grains, bread, fruits. vegetables, beans, or dairy. This is what a body uses as its main energy source. Carbohydrates have 4 calories per gram.

Dietary fiber. The part of plant foods that we cannot digest. Whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds contain fiber. Soluble fiber is any dietary fiber that dissolves in water to form a gel. insoluble fiber does not dissolve as easily. You need at least 25 to 38 grams of fiber daily. To be considered high in fiber, a food must contain least 5 grams per serving.

Sugars. This section of the nutrition label lists added and natural sugars separately. Added sugars include sucrose, glucose, fructose, and corn and maple syrups. Natural sugars include lactose in milk and fructose in fruit. If you are concerned about your intake of sugar, be sure added sugars are not one of the first three items in a food’s ingredients list.

Protein. Proteins are the amino acids and other precursors required for the build up of cell structure.

This is based on the recommended daily value expressed as a percentage or a gram weight. Food nutritional value is shown as percentage, based on a FDA’s recommended 2,000-calorie diet. This daily value gives you a frame of reference for comparing products.
